Undefeated Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes's sixteenth title defense is an odd one as he takes on another undefeated challenger in Scott Frank. After four rounds, Holmes has battered Frank and swollen the challenger's left eye. In the fifth, Holmes lands a combination that results in Frank doubling over and covering his face. When Referee Tony Perez begins to step in, Frank drops to his knees and claims he has been thumbed in the eye. Frank beats the count and opts to continue but fails to defend himself from Holmes's attack, forcing Perez to call a halt to the fight.
