Looking to use one another to springboard to another shot at the Heavyweight Championship, Evander Holyfield and Hasim Rahman face off in Atlantic City. Holyfield appears to turn back the clock as he survives Rahman's deadly right hand and opens up with combinations, but the bout is brought to a screeching halt when a gigantic hematoma develops on Hasim's head after a head butt with Evander. The fight goes to the scorecards midway through round eight, where Holyfield takes home a technical split decision, although the judges incorrectly neglect to score the half-round.
