Larry Holmes vs. Randall Cobb

Undefeated Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes defends his crown against Randall Cobb in the challenger's home state of Texas. Holmes bloodies Cobb's nose and buckles his knees with a combination in the fourth round. He later moves Cobb with a big right hand in the sixth, but Cobb just smiles and takes it as his left eye becomes badly bruised. Holmes proceeds to administer a terrible beating to the challenger, who refuses to go down and incredibly lasts all fifteen rounds. After Holmes pitches the shutout in brutal fashion, Howard Cosell, who has called for the fight to be stopped beginning with the ninth round, renounces boxing for good.
