Another Kermit Cintron bout is clouded in controversy when he falls out of the ring in the fourth round of a bout with Paul Williams. After three closely contested rounds in which each man gets his share of power shots in, the fighters become tangled in the fourth, resulting in Williams falling to the canvas and Cintron flying between the ropes, across a ringside table and to the floor. Cintron claims he cannot continue, vacillating between complaints of an injured neck, ankle and back, before the bout is stopped; however, under California state rules, the bout goes to the scorecards and Williams gets a split technical decision win as Cintron is stretchered out of the arena.
