Undisputed Middleweight Champion Marvin Hagler suffers the only official knockdown of his career against challenger Juan Domingo Roldan but returns the favor twice over. Roldan scores the disputed knockdown just seconds into the first round with a left hook that appears to land to the back of Hagler's head. Roldan follows up with some big shots in the second round that test the champion's chin. Hagler comes back in the third to score with a left hand that gets into the eye of Roldan and follows up by battering the challenger between the ropes for a knockdown of his own. With his vision impaired due to swelling, Roldan still stands and trades with Hagler in the fourth but starts eating flush shots toward the end of the fifth. After being dropped onto his back from a combination in round ten, Roldan gets to his feet and tells Referee Tony Perez that he has had enough.
