The Fights: Marvin Hagler vs. John Mugabi

Undisputed Middleweight Champion Marvin Hagler attempts to turn back the challenge of undefeated power puncher John Mugabi, who has stopped every man he has ever faced. Hagler begins the fight from a conventional stance, but the bombs of Mugabi force him back to southpaw. After five back-and-forth rounds, Hagler rocks Mugabi in the sixth but fails to finish him off. In the seventh, Referee Mills Lane docks Hagler a point for low blows. With his right eye nearly swollen shut, Hagler blasts Mugabi into the ropes and down to the canvas with some huge right hooks in the eleventh round. Mugabi sits up but fails to beat the count of Lane as Hagler outlasts him in a classic.
