Desert Storm: Winky Wright vs. Harry Simon

WBO Super Welterweight Champion Winky Wright travels to South Africa to defend his title against undefeated Harry Simon. Simon comes out throwing heavy leather, but Wright responds by beckoning him on, trying to get the challenger to punch himself out. They slug it out, trading punches non-stop for large stretches of the fight until Wright starts to out box his opponent in the middle rounds. Simon lands a big right hand in a close round eight and has his best round of the fight in the ninth, shaking Winky up with an uppercut and a straight right hand. The experienced Wright performs better down the stretch; however, the judges initially rule the bout a majority draw before the scorecards are recalculated to find Simon a surprising winner by majority decision.
