In the second defense of his IBF Lightweight Championship, Shane Mosley puts a severe beating on tough Panamanian contender Demetrio Ceballos. Mosley stuns Ceballos a few times in the opening round and knocks him through the ropes with a big right hand to the head, followed by a left hook to the body in the fourth. Ceballos catches a brief reprieve when Referee Eddie Cotton docks Mosley a point for a low blow in the eighth; however, moments later, Mosley wobbles him with a jarring one-two. Mosley rains power shots on the challenger against the ropes, eventually dropping him onto his face on the canvas. After Cotton waves the fight over, the challenger remains down on the canvas for several minutes as the ringside doctor tends to his bleeding right eye.
