WBO Welterweight Champion Paul Williams suffers the first loss of his career when he is out boxed by the slick southpaw Carlos Quintana. Quintana starts fast, schooling Williams and drilling him with power shots over the first third of the fight. Williams mounts a mid-rounds rally, but Quintana finishes strong down the stretch, cutting Williams over both eyes. After twelve rounds, Quintana takes a close but unanimous decision to lift Williams's title.
