Undefeated Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes turns back undefeated challenger Carl Williams in a razor thin contest filled with close rounds. After Williams proves he can jab with Holmes over the first three rounds, they trade big shots in the fourth, with Williams knocking Holmes back with a pair of left hooks and Holmes sending the grease flying off Williams with a right hand that also opens a cut over the challenger's left eye. By the end of round nine, Holmes is battering the exhausted Williams, who stumbles all about the ring.
