The Grand Finale: Larry Holmes vs. David Bey

Undefeated Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes takes on big David Bey in a fight many anticipate to be his last. Bey lands the only meaningful punch of the opening round and hen wobbles Holmes with a left hook in the second. Holmes comes back to stun Bey with a straight right hand in the third, but Bey again shakes Holmes up in the fourth. The champion starts to take over in the middle rounds and catches Bey with a counter right hand that freezes him up in the eighth before a left hook puts him down on his back. Bey gets up and stumbles around the ring on unsteady legs before a straight right in the corner and another left hook knocks him into the ropes on a knee. The challenger shows heart in making it through the round but is hurt by a right hand in the tenth. Holmes blasts away at Bey with unanswered shots, hammering him into a corner, until Referee Carlos Padilla stops it. After the bout, Holmes teases retirement but leaves the door open for a bout with Light Heavyweight Champion Michael Spinks.
