Bobby Chacon gives WBC Super Featherweight Champion Alexis Arguello all he can handle for six rounds. Chacon is the aggressor as he out works Arguello to bag rounds and take a lead on two of the judges' scorecards. In the seventh round, Chacon eats a left hook that makes him touch his glove to the canvas before willingly taking a knee. Although he opts to continue, Chacon takes a beating up until the bell to end the round. The ringside doctor examines a bloodied right eye on Chacon between rounds and, much to the dismay of the challenger, advises Referee John Thomas to stop the fight before the eighth round.
