Berbick shouts at Holmes and taunts him during the opening round, prompting Holmes to shove him after the bell. The challenger ends up knocking Referee Mills Lane over while trying to get to Holmes. Holmes staggers Berbick in the second round and several more times during the bout, but Berbick continues to run his mouth and briefly stuns Holmes in the fifth. After fifteen rounds, Holmes clearly defends his title with a unanimous decision.

Berbick opts to go toe to toe and hits the canvas early in round two after a barrage from Tyson. At the end of the round, Berbick goes down hard once again and collapses twice more while attempting to get up from the same punch, prompting Referee Mills Lane to mercifully halt the contest.

Berbick starts catching Ali with some good shots to seal the deal in the tenth and final round. After Berbick gets the unanimous decision from the judges, Ali announces his retirement in the ring, finally ending his legendary career.
