Vitali Klitschko vs. Tomasz Adamek
Wroclaw, Poland
Heavyweight lbs
Massimo Barrovecchio
WBC Heavyweight Championship
Former Lightweight and Cruiserweight Champion Tomasz Adamek gets homefield advantage when he challenges WBC Champion Vitali Klitschko in Poland's first heavyweight title fight, but he cannot overcome the size disparity. Klitschko buckles Adamek's knees and wobbles him with straight right hands in each of the first two rounds and later in the sixth, which Referee Massimo Barrovecchio rules a knockdown. With his nose bleeding and Adamek taking heavy punishment in the tenth, Barrovecchio stops the challenger on his feet. Adamek does not protest the decision but gives a shake of the head and spits a mouthful of blood out.
