Fighting on the undercard of the hometown debut of 1996 Olympic gold medalist David Reid, IBF Lightweight Champion Shane Mosley makes the fourth defense of his title against Wilfrido Ruiz. Mosley hurts Ruiz in each of the first four rounds before putting him on wobbly legs with a counter right hand in the fifth. Another clean right hand lifts Ruiz's head and drops him flat on his back. Referee Rudy Battle stops counting when he sees how badly Ruiz is hurt and stops the fight.
