Roy Jones Jr. regains the Light Heavyweight Championship and exacts sweet revenge over the only man to defeat him, Montell Griffin. Hurt by the first left hook Jones throws, Griffin is sent tumbling back into the ropes by the next one for an official knockdown just seconds into the bout. Another left hook toward the end of the opening round flattens Griffin. Griffin tries multiple times to get up but stumbles into the ropes and then face plants on the canvas as Referee Arthur Mercante counts him out.
