IBF Welterweight Championship
Fighting on the undercard of the rematch between Julio Cesar Chavez and Meldrick Taylor, undefeated IBF Welterweight Champion Felix Trinidad steals the show with a wild bout against undefeated "Yory Boy" Campas, who is 56-0 with 50 knockouts. Trinidad tests Campas's chin early, but Campas comes back to put him on the seat of his pants with a short left hook in the second round. Trinidad loses another point for low blows in the third round after multiple warnings from Referee Richard Steele. Finally, Trinidad manages to crack Campas's granite chin with more than two dozen flush shots in the fourth, nearly taking the challenger's head off with a left hook against the ropes, until Steele stops the massacre.
