Thomas Hearns vs. Luis Primera

Undefeated champion meets undefeated challenger when Thomas Hearns makes the first defense of the WBA Welterweight Championship against Luis Primera. Primera comes out swinging but gets dropped to his knees and then on his face by a pair of right hands from Hearns in the second round. Hearns has him down again in the fifth on another right hand, but Primera beats only to be collapsed by a body shot in the sixth. The valiant Primera wants to continue but is a little too slow getting to his feet just as Referee Ismael Wiso Fernandez reaches the count of ten.
