Iran Barkley shocks WBC Middleweight Champion Thomas Hearns in a wild three-round firefight. Hearns willingly trades bombs with the challenger from the opening bell; however, just when it appears that he has Barkley going with a series of crippling body shots, the challenger comes up with a right hand that freezes Hearns momentarily before sending him collapsing flat on his back. Hearns somehow manages to beat the count of Referee Richard Steele, but Barkley knocks him through the ropes with another right hand seconds later. This time, Steele stops the fight, completing a huge upset.
