Benjy Esteves Jr.

IBF Super Lightweight Championship

Vince Phillips pulls off a shocking upset when he out slugs undefeated IBF Super Lightweight Champion Kostya Tszyu over ten brutal rounds. After four rounds of trading right hand bombs, Phillips begins swelling around his right eye. In the seventh, Tszyu eats a left hook and a right hand that drops him to his gloves and knees momentarily, though he stands right back up. Cut over his left eye and bleeding from his mouth, Tszyu manages to cut Phillips badly over the right eye with a left hook in the ninth. With both men trying to end the fight, Phillips hurts Tszyu with a right hand early in the tenth. He walks Tszyu down, landing as many as six unanswered right hands on the defenseless champion, who finally slumps into the corner, out of his feet, and Referee Benjy Esteves stops the bout.
