Former two-division champion Tony Lopez heads into enemy turf to take on WBC Super Lightweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez. After a good opening round, Lopez catches a right hand just after the bell to end the second, opening a cut over his left eye. Lopez never complains and goes after Chavez, landing clean shots in the third, but Chavez takes the fight over in the fifth with some hard right hands. With Lopez's left eye a mess, Chavez implores Referee Luis Carlos Guzman to stop the fight after the ninth round. During the tenth, Guzman takes Lopez to see the ringside doctor, who decides to wave the bout over.
