In the best fight of the card, Marcos Maidana and Jesus Soto Karass engaged in a vicious and mean-spirited slugfest--three points were deducted from the two fighters over the course of the fight for intentional low blows and hitting after the bell. Although Soto Karass appeared to have the size advantage early, Maidana's power and Soto Karass's lack of defense eventually led to the knockdown that changed the fight at the end of the seventh round, and the flurry that finished it in the eighth. Maidana looks like a beast under his new trainer Robert Garcia.
