When Steve Collins retires and vacates the WBO Super Middleweight Championship, undefeated Joe Calzaghe takes on fellow Briton Chris Eubank for the title in a terrific fight. Eubank tries to rush Calzaghe at the opening bell but gets put down by a left hand from the Welshman just seconds in. Calzaghe then shows up the showman by shuffling his feet and winding his arm up. Eubank storms back in the middle rounds to engage Calzaghe in some brutal exchanges, but Calzaghe walks through them largely unharmed. When Eubank goes down on a glove after a left hand in the tenth round, the fight is solidified in Calzaghe's favor as he wins a wide unanimous decision on the scorecards to become champion. After the decision, Eubank salutes the fans and bows out gracefully.
