After unifying the WBC and WBA Welterweight Championship in a classic against Thomas Hearns, "Sugar" Ray Leonard defends his titles against Bruce Finch in the first championship fight in Reno in 70 years. Leonard gets off to a slow start but floors Finch twice in the second round and again in the third. Although Finch beats the count, Referee Mills Lane can see he has had enough and ends the contest.
