Vazquez Jr. was originally slated to meet Mexican warrior Rafael Marquez, but when Marquez pulled out due to a hand injury, he was replaced with fellow Puerto Rican Jonathan Oquendo.  The result was a give-and-take fight that lived up to the promotional billing (The War), with former super bantamweight titlist Vazquez Jr. proving his superiority in the end.

Judge Ruben Garcia's puzzling 115-112 scorecard for former holder Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. nothwithstanding, Nonito Donaire dominated in his first fight at 122 lbs. en route to capturing a world title in his third weight class (112, 118, 122).  Vazquez Jr. was game and landed good shots throughout the fight, but in the end was outpunched by the ultra-talented and powerful Donaire.  After the fight, Donaire removed his glove to reveal a damaged left hand that he said he believed he hurt around the second round.

Arce steals the show in the co-feature to Pacquiao-Mosley, breaking down the young champion Vazquez Jr. and forcing Vazquez Sr. to throw in the towel in the twelfth frame to save his son from further damage. Arce takes Vazquez Jr.'s WBO 122 lb. belt and his 'O' in the process.
