Working behind his esteemed jab, Holmes surgically dissects Evangelista for six rounds before flooring him on his back with a right hand. Evangelista twice tries to get up but collapses back to the canvas each time before he is counted out by Referee Richard Greene.

Undefeated Heavyweight Champion Larry Holmes turns back undefeated challenger Carl Williams in a razor thin contest filled with close rounds. After Williams proves he can jab with Holmes over the first three rounds, they trade big shots in the fourth, with Williams knocking Holmes back with a pair of left hooks and Holmes sending the grease flying off Williams with a right hand that also opens a cut over the challenger's left eye. By the end of round nine, Holmes is battering the exhausted Williams, who stumbles all about the ring. With his title up for grabs, Holmes convincingly wins the final two rounds and saves his championship and moves to 48-0 with a controversial unanimous decision.
