Headlining ESPN's first ever pay-per-view telecast, WBO Welterweight Champion Antonio Margarito of Mexico defends his title against undefeated knockout artist Kermit Cintron of Puerto Rico. After falling behind early on points, Margarito rips open a cut over Cintron's eye with a vicious uppercut in the third round. Cintron quickly falls apart as Margarito twice batters him to the canvas in the fourth round. After going down twice more in the fifth, Cintron looks to his corner to throw in the towel for him and breaks into tears.

On the undercard of a bout between Miguel Cotto and Alfonso Gomez, IBF Welterweight Champion Kermit Cintron suffers his second knockout loss to Antonio Margarito in three years. Setting a blistering pace from the outset, Margarito survives some heavy thunder from Cintron to put him down with a body shot in the sixth round. While Referee Earl Brown counts Cintron out, Margarito beckons the champion to stand. Cintron can't, and Margarito finally lands a summer bout with Cotto.

WBC Super Welterweight Champion Saul Alvarez completes the third defense of his title against Kermit Cintron in Mexico. Similar to his failings against Antonio Margarito, Cintron is forced to a glove and a knee after three right hands from Alvarez in the fourth round. Although Cintron beats the count, a left hook before the bell opens a cut on his nose and has him sagging against the ropes, seemingly out on his feet. When a right hand from Alvarez doubles Cintron over at the end of the fifth, Referee Hector Afu stops the fight.
