In the final fight of his career before his tragic murder, Vernon Forrest reclaims the WBC Super Welterweight Championship in a rematch with Sergio Mora. This time around, Forrest puts a beating on Mora, stunning him with a right hand in the fifth round and hammering him until the bell. At the end of the seventh, Mora walks into a left hook that buckles his knees. Although his knee does not touch the canvas, Referee Vic Drakulich calls Mora down anyway. Mora lands a hard right hand in the ninth, but Forrest responds by nearly beating him through the ropes. Forrest finishes strong in the twelfth, landing big shots. Mora finishes the fight on his feet but loses a landslide unanimous decision on the scorecards.
