In his first fight since being upset by Oliver McCall, Lennox Lewis looks to gain another crack at the WBC Heavyweight title by facing Lionel Butler in an eliminator. Now trained by the man who trained McCall, Emanuel Steward, Lewis dissects Butler from a distance for three rounds before wobbling him with a straight right in round four. Lewis sends Butler stumbling onto his backside with a straight right-left combination in the fifth. Butler beats the count but is gassed as Lewis knocks him into the ropes in a seated position with another straight right. Referee Marty Denkin stops the fight as Lewis is bringing in another right hand.
