Lee Selby vs Randall Munroe
Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom
126 lbs
Ian John Lewis
BBBofC British Featherweight Title & EBU (European) Featherweight Title
Fought for the vacant EBU European Featherweight title, won by British BBB of C champion Lee Selby. Frequent combinations and superior movement by Selby, the BoxRec number 11 worldwide featherweight, moved Selby a step closer to a world title shot by exposing Monroe. Selby boxed patiently, finally throwing a nonstop volley of punches with Monroe trapped in a neutral corner, broken down, covering, and completely defenseless. Selby then beckoned referee Ian John-Lewis to step in and stop the bout as he continued to administer Munroe a huge beating. Munroe did well only in the fourth round but he could not sustain the rapid tempo of the bout. Munroe did not appear to be hurt at the time the lopsided featherweight bout was finally stopped, but the bout's outcome was never in doubt. Unable to beat Scott Quigg in two attempts in 2012, Rendall Munroe remained unable to win against the world class featherweight fighters. Meanwhile, Scott Quigg remained undefeated in four WBA super bantamweight title bouts 2012-2013 including defeating Diego Oscar Silva.
