Capital Explosion: Mike Tyson vs. Kevin McBride
Washington, DC
Heavyweight lbs
Joe Cortez
Mike Tyson's notorious career comes to an end in the nation's capital when he quits after going six rounds with huge but unheralded heavyweight Kevin McBride. Although he is ahead on the cards and has landed some big shots in the fourth round, Tyson grows frustrated and tries to break McBride's arm during a clinch in the sixth. Moments later, Tyson is docked two points by Referee Joe Cortez for intentionally head butting McBride and opening a bad cut over his left eye. After McBride lands some uppercuts in the closing seconds of the round, Tyson slumps onto his rear on the canvas. Tyson asks Cortez to help him up, gets no assistance and, despite being ahead on two scorecards, quits on his stool shortly thereafter.
