In a rematch of their slugfest from 2001, Verno Phillips defends his IBF Super Welterweight Championship against Kassim Ouma. Phillips starts off well in the early rounds before Ouma knocks his mouthpiece out with a right hook in the third. From there, Ouma takes over the middle rounds until Phillips mounts a comeback to seemingly pull even heading down the stretch. The challenger proves to have more gas in the tank and closes the show by dominating the championship rounds, having Phillips hurt and staggering around the ring more than once. After twelve rounds, Ouma wins his first title with a unanimous decision.
