Lineal Middleweight Champion Sergio Martinez looks to regain the WBC title that he had previously been stripped of for not fighting Sebastian Zbik when he faces undefeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a fight that the WBC tries but fails to prevent from happening. Martinez realizes the WBC's fears by dominating Chavez for eleven one-sided rounds; however, in the twelfth and final round, Chavez manages to hurt and floor Martinez badly. Martinez survives to the final bell where he wins a wide unanimous decision, but Chavez saves his pride by nearly pulling the upset.
