Mauricio Herrera takes on unbeaten Jose Benavidez, in Las Vegas, on the same night as Tim Bradley's fight against Argentine Diego Chaves. Herrera and Benavidez both promised a victory before the fight, and it seemed to be something of a grudge match. Herrera started at a very fast pace, swarming Benavidez on the ropes, but Benavidez was able to stand with him and fight fire with fire, perhaps landing the cleaner, classier shots. The fight was very competitive, and very interesting, but in the end, Benavidez gets awarded a wide decision to win the fight, not a decision which was popular with the fans of Mauricio Herrera.
