Juan Manuel Marquez takes on Filipino southpaw Jimrex Jaca in preparation for a potential rematch with Manny Pacquiao. Jaca brings the fight in the first two rounds and, in doing so, brings out the warrior in Marquez. Marquez cuts Jaca over the right eye in the second round but suffers a much worse cut on his forehead after a clash of heads in the fifth. With his face a bloody mess, Marquez tries to take Jaca out in every round before finally sending him onto the seat of his pants with a combination in the ninth round. Jaca remains seated as Referee Laurence Cole counts him out.
