IBF Super Middleweight Championship
Undefeated IBF Super Middleweight Champion Jeff Lacy returns to his home of Tampa to defend his title against former champion Robin Reid. After rocking Reid at the end of the third and fourth rounds, Lacy becomes the first man to knock him down with an assist from Referee Jorge Alonso. Following a clash of heads, Alonso calls for a break and starts to separate the fighters, allowing Lacy to drop Reid with a right hand in the fifth. Surprisingly, Alonso not only allows the knockdown but docks Reid another point for use of the head. Lacy then hurts Reid with a vicious volley, sending the challenger down on a knee for a legitimate knockdown. Two big right hands from Lacy knock Reid to his hands and knees again in the eighth. After Reid loses a point for holding in the seventh, Lacy sends him back to the canvas with three vicious uppercuts. Although Reid beats the count and survives the round, his corner has had enough of Alonso and the beating and pulls their man out of the fight.
