IBF Super Middleweight Championship

IBF Super Middleweight Champion James Toney defends his title with a classic knockout over Prince Charles Williams. Williams crowds Toney for the first half of the fight and swells the champion's left eye closed during the in fighting, but Toney creates some distance and starts lighting the challenger up with flush shots in rounds six and seven. Toney gets a little carried away in the eighth round and loses a point for hitting after the bell, having been warned for it once after the opening round. With a potential showdown with Roy Jones Jr. on the line, Toney closes the show by knocking Williams flat on his back with a clean right hand with only seconds left in the twelfth round. Williams tries to get up but doesn't come close to beating the count of Referee Joe Cortez.
