In another attempt at securing a world title opportunity, veteran Kevin Mitchell takes on Venezuelan puncher Ismael Barroso, Barroso wasn't a well known fighter, he was known for being undefeated, a puncher, and that was about it. Barroso dominated Mitchell for four rounds, and in the fifth round, he quite brutally stopped the Englishman, he scored several knockdowns, and after the stoppage, Mitchell hs to recieve oxygen from ringside doctors. This fight took place on what was described by former cruiserweight world champion Glen McCory said that this was the best night of boxing on SkySports he had ever seen, the main event was Anthony Joshua taking on bitter rival and felloew undefeated heavyweight Dillian Whyte, who beat him very heavily when they were amateurs. After this fight, Kevin Mitchell officially announced his retirement from boxing, after a long, hard, gruelling career, but one which broihht entertainment and inspiration to many, many fans who enjoyed watching him fight over the years. Ismael Barroso challenged Anthony Crolla for his WBA lightweight crown after this win.
