WBC/WBA Heavyweight Championship
Heavyweight Champion George Foreman makes an emphatic statement in the second defense of his crown when he annihilates Ken Norton in two rounds. An uppercut from Foreman midway through the second sends Norton collapsing back into the ropes for an official knockdown ruled by Referee Jimmy Rondeau. Norton continues but ends up in the same position an instant later. Seconds later, Foreman unleashes a series of brutal uppercuts that drops Norton flat on his back. The challenger struggles to his feet once more, leaning against the ropes, but his corner stops the fight before Foreman can do any more damage.
