Fighting Harada vs Jose Medel
Tokyo, Japan
"Jose Medel of Mexico, WBA 3rd ranked contender, flattened Fighting Harada of Japan three times to score a 6th round TKO Thursday night in a non-title 10 rounder. Medel's hard punching gave him a come-from-behind victory over Harada, who is the 4th ranked bantamweight contender. The bout was stopped by the Japanese three knockdown rule at 2:28 of the 6th round. Harada came on with his usual all out rushing attack and took the first two rounds. The tide began to turn in the 3rd, when Medel connected with a series of hard left hooks to the body. Harada rallied in the 4th by rushing Medel and took the 5th in the same way. Harada decided to trade punches with the Mexican in the 6th. Medel hooked a right to the jaw and Harada went down. He was up but took a 9 count. Medel landed a barrage of straight lefts and rights to the head of the groggy japanese and sent him down again for a 9 count. Medel went out after the kill and smashed in another right to the jaw. Harada went down for the third and last time." -United Press International
