After being retired for more than two years, Felix Trinidad returns to boxing looking to make a splash against the brash former Welterweight Champion Ricardo Mayorga. Mayorga sticks his chin out and offers up free shots in the opening round only to be stunned by the heavy hands of Trinidad. Mayorga comes back to score a knockdown in the third round when Trinidad's glove hits the canvas after a right hand. Trinidad's power ultimately carries the day as he hammers Mayorga into oblivion, finally putting him down three times in the eighth round before Referee Steve Smoger stops the massacre.
