Undefeated WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Michael Spinks moves to unify titles with WBC Champion Dwight Braxton in a highly anticipated bout. Both men come out throwing bombs before Spinks takes over the first half of the fight with his superior boxing. In round six, Spinks stops Braxton in his tracks with a right hand and then hurts him with a body shot in the seventh. Braxton rallies to land a straight right to the body while stepping on Spinks's toe, causing Spinks to hit the canvas on his backside for an official knockdown. Down the stretch, Braxton scores some big right hands and staggers Spinks in the fourteenth round; however, Spinks closes the show with a strong fifteenth round and earns a unanimous decision from the judges.
