In the first fight held in the historic Radio City Music Hall, Roy Jones Jr. scores a shutout of David Telesco in defense of the undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship. Telesco, who had followed Jones around the country for months trying to hound him into taking the fight, talks to Jones throughout the bout. Jones talks back, prompting Referee Arthur Mercante to warn both fighters to cut the chatter. In the fifth round, Jones adamantly challenges Telesco to fight him in the corner and proceeds to pound the challenger throughout the remainder of the bout. After round eleven, Telesco taunts Jones for being unable to take him off his feet and curses him in the final round. Jones later claims to have fought with a fractured wrist.
