In his first defense of the undisputed Welterweight Championship that he won from Ricardo Mayorga, Cory Spinks faces the daunting task of Zab Judah on the undercard of a bout between Wladimir Klitschko and Lamon Brewster. A chess match between the southpaws for most of the bout, Spinks floors an off-balance Judah in the eleventh round. Judah, however, returns the favor and has Spinks in serious trouble in the final round, but Spinks survives and edges the fight by unanimous decision on the scorecards.
