IBF Middleweight Championship

Undefeated IBF Middleweight Champion Arthur Abraham takes on undefeated Edison Miranda in a battle of knockout artists who have between them 40 stoppages in less than 50 fights. Miranda establishes a sour mood early, wobbling Abraham in the second round and hitting him after the bell. Abraham comes back to wobble his challenger with wide, looping shots in the fourth round, but Miranda breaks the champion's jaw with an uppercut. With blood pouring from his mouth, Abraham complains after an intentional head butt from Miranda in the fifth, prompting Referee Randy Neumann to call timeout and illegally allow the ringside doctor to work on the champion's injury. Neumann says they will go to the scorecards but changes his mind upon realizing that Miranda will win on a technical knockout. Consorting with local officials for five minutes, Neumann bizarrely lets the fight go on and takes not one but two points from Miranda for the butt. After multiple warnings, Neumann docks Miranda two more points for low blows in the seventh round. Way behind on points, Miranda starts whacking Abraham with big shots but loses yet another point for a borderline low blow in the eleventh after the champion labors for recovery time. After twelve grueling rounds, Abraham escapes with his title in tact via unanimous decision.
