In the opening bout of the Super Six World Boxing Classic to crown an undisputed Super Middleweight Champion in the wake of the retirement of Joe Calzaghe, undefeated Arthur Abraham moves up to 168 pounds to take on fellow former Middleweight Champion Jermain Taylor. Taylor leads on points after the first four rounds, but Abraham starts to pull away in the second half of the fight after Taylor is deducted a point for a low blow in the sixth round. In the ninth, Abraham hurts Taylor with a right hand. With only seconds remaining in the fight, Taylor suffers his second consecutive last-second knockout defeat when Abraham floors him in devastating fashion, picking up an extra point in the tournament standings for his effort.
