The Rematch: Aaron Pryor vs. Alexis Arguello II
Las Vegas, NV
140 lbs
Richard Steele
WBA Super Lightweight Championship
After the controversial finish of their first encounter, Alexis Arguello once again challenges Aaron Pryor for the WBA Super Lightweight Championship in what he deems the final fight of his career. The second meeting picks up where the first left off, with both men trading huge bombs until Pryor floors Arguello with a right hand in the opening round. Arguello comes back to land some big shots on Pryor in the third, but the champion drops him again in the fourth with a left hook. The challenger puts up a great fight and connects with some hard shots in the eighth but loses a point for low blows. Pryor hurts Arguello in the tenth and blasts away at him against the ropes until he collapses in a seated position. Finally finished, Arguello chooses to remain sitting while Referee Richard Steele counts him out.
